Community Book Club

We are excited to bring together our first online event for The Fellowship of Northern Traditions! This will be an monthly book club that will be available exclusively to our online community over on Discord.

The first book we will be diving into together will be The Kalevala by Elias Lönnrot. The Kalevala is the main source of information for Finnish mythology and features rich imagery and facinating characters. However the language and style of the writing makes The Kalevala a difficult read. So we are going to be breaking down the stories each month and asking weekly questions to help you digest the text in the easiest way.

The book club will consist of:

• Monthly video calls (via discord) to discuss each months reading goals.

• Reading goals that will be set to an easy pace so that even those with busy lives should be able to keep up.

• Weekly text prompts to encourage critical and analytical thinking of the text.

There are free versions of The Kalevala online, however you are more than welcome to use your own copy/translation.

If you are interested this will take place on our Online Community channels which are available through a monthly/yearly online donation. This is the first of several online community events we are hoping to offer to members of this community. If interested please sign up via the Discord.
